Camera
angles and movements
In class we discuss about the different camera
angles and we had a little play around with the camera in the studio.
Establish
shot (E.S.)
-establish the settings, the place and the
location.
Extreme
long shot (E.L.S.)
-it shows the scale, details (not as many as the
e.s.).
Long
shot (L.S)
-entire/full body shot, it shows costumes and
physical approach (the body language, status of the characters, etc.).
Mid
Long shot (M.I.S)
-frame from ties upwards, it is more personal as
it brings you closer to the character.
Mid
shot (M.S.)
-frame from stomach upwards, it shows details and
it is usually to draw the attention to a conversation.
Close
up (C.U)
-it show details of the face expression and draw
the audience to concentrate to the character or object.
Extreme
Close Up
-even more details.
High
Angle
-it makes the character looking weak, short,
inferior.
Low
Angles
-it is powerful and gives status to the
character.
Point
Of View (P.O.V)
-the audience gets to see what the character gets
to see.
Over
the Shoulder
-the audience feels like in a conversation, like
if it is spying.
Canted
Angles (Dutch Angles)
-disorientate and confuse the audience.
