First group lesson discussing all of our ideas


Today in class we split into our correspondent music video groups and we went through all our ideas, and picked the best two, developing them further more. We decided to use the song Pray (empty gun) with its relative music video idea of a girl gangster, and as a second idea we chose the idea of the song Heaven of the play ground but we are still deciding if we should change the song with Are U There? ft. Mura Masa, as it fits the idea and genre of the music video.
As it was our first day of discussion we decided to purely concentrate on our best idea ( the first one) and go through it in detailed thinking already about possible casting, props and costumes and maybe adding or removing certain elements, for example at first the idea was to use three separate performances from the main protagonist, which two of them would be located in the studio and one outside, however we thought that jumping from indoor to outdoor may look too disconnected with each other. For this we change the last set idea with possible idea of speaker playing and if possible having water, or paint creating a movements effect and showing the rhythm of the song in few shots to incorporate in the music video to add a third element.
At first we wanted a boy and a girl dancing in the background within the first element, however this has changes due to the fact that seemed to cliché.
The first idea overall is about having this main singer performing into two/three different locations, with other elements happening in the background, for example, dancers, smoke and set light in the first set and in the second money and weapons all over the place with the protagonist lying in the middle of it. The crucial thing in for this music video would be the performance of the characters and the costumes, but the positive thing of it is that it is not an unrealistic idea.
Working in a group and developing a single idea gave us the opportunity to have different points of view, making additional changes to improve the idea, also it give a wider range or resources to look at to have a better idea of what it could be look like, or similar results, to have a fix aim.

The next three lesson will be about planning the those two main ideas as best as possible to then pitch to Luke and Matt, and hope for a positive respond, to then start working properly onto the project.
